The new science standards require students to make connections more than ever before. Using their hands to make diagrams, write answers on their individual whiteboards, developing charts and graphs all in color, aid in students’ memory without relying on electronics. These memories allow teachers and also the student mentors to encourage students to make connections between information they learn in this class, other classes and their personal lives. An example of a previous project includes students developing their own creatures with features to survive in their habitats, as well as explaining how they apply those features to the definition of an organism..
