  Some of my ENL students are beginners who just moved to the United States. Learning how to decode and read through games and visual, hands on activities is the most beneficial for them.

• School Supplies Surprise

  My students and I thank you so much for these supplies you have given us! They certainly enhanced our learning and engagement! My students love writing with mechanical pencils and receiving stickers. Moreover, the small play dough containers were such a success and were earned for academic progress. When teaching my English Language Learners, the dry erase markers and erasers came in very handy.

  By having basic classroom supplies, students now have enough materials to have engaging lessons. Basic supplies are important for the day-to-day function of our classroom.”

  My English Language Learners represent our future! They are the tech-savvy younger generation! This laptop helped me introduce them to the concept of computer science and to teach them how to start coding using children friendly platforms such as Scratch.

  My English Language Learners were eager to learn about computer science and coding!These are skills they will need to compete in the future as technology continues to play a vital role in our lives now.

  The laptop is also used daily connected to the Smartboard to teach my ENL learners. My students and I love the touch screen feature.”

• All Hands on Deck for Health and Wellness

  As an English Language Learners teacher, I value the importance of hands on learning and learning through visuals. Emotional wellness is also very important to students who moved here from other countries. Your generous donation helped me provide some fun incentives for them. They earned these incentives when they made improvements either academically or behaviorally.

  They loved playing with the stress balls, sensory toys to relieve stress and anxiety, fidget toys, and hands on spinning tops. These wellness toys helped my students relax and be ready to learn.”

• NYC Hats for Freezing Weather

  Funded Jan 18, 2022

  My students and I thank you for your interest in our classroom and for your help in purchasing these warm, cozy hats for our English Language Learners.

  New York City has some harsh winters with temperatures below freezing and these students walk to and from school daily. They also play outside at recess and feeling comfortable and warm is a basic need all our students. However, many of our scholars are from low socio economic backgrounds and some lack basic needs and supplies.
