We Are the Dinosaurs...marching...marching!
Funded Feb 9, 2022Thank you for your donation to our dinosaur project!
As a new PK teacher, I thought I had the time to fit in a mini dinosaur study this school year. With all things new teachers face, I realized it was best that I follow my districts curriculum and weave in student interest of dinosaurs though books and centers. The dinosaur counters were an easy and fun addition as students were practicing math skills like sorting and counting. I do have to admit, as a new teacher, the knex blocks were harder to introduce. I did not realize the amount of fine motor skills needed to put the pieces together. During the rest of the school year, I plan to work with students to build their fine motor skills so it can become easier for them to build dinosaurs.
New books are always the best! Students noticed "big" and "scary" dinosaurs across the pages. They compared pictures to the dinosaur book that I had bought at the beginning of the school year. For my PK students, the dinosaur books sparked a new curiosity and joy about dinosaurs.
Thank you again for helping to fund one of my first donors choose projects. It was an opportunity for me to think about the resources that best fit my students needs and interests. I look forward to learning more about dinosaurs in order to plan a dinosaur study for my students in the future.
PS It is April and my students are still enjoying the song, We Are the Dinosaurs....Marching, Marching.”

Funded Feb 9, 2022The comfy couch has truly made the Peace Corner in our classroom a more "comfy" space for students to take a break. Our Peace Corner transitioned throughout the school year; from sitting on a carpet to sitting at a standard PK chair. It never felt like a comfortable space for students until we received our new piece of furniture - the comfy couch!
The couch helped to provide a specific and visual space in our classroom where students could go to regulate their body and emotions before rejoining their friends. Students shared with me some of their favorite ways to relax in the peace corner:
-Read a book
-Looking at the water and glitter moving in the sensory tube
-Rainbow breaths
-Close my eyes
Thank you again for your generous donation. The investment in quality furniture is not only important to adults but to classrooms. Looking forward to this comfy couch being part of this classroom for many years to come.”

Funded Feb 9, 2022THANK YOU for your donation towards the project exploration of sand and water. The kinetic sand and water beads brought a new sense of wonder and joy to my students as they manipulated and played with the different sensory materials. As a new PK teacher I am learning first hand how important the five senses are to enhance learning, especially the sense of touch. My students loved building structures with the sand and mini construction trucks. The water beads helped jump start conversations about measurement as students measured water beads between different size containers. Looking forward to more sensory play throughout the school year!”

Funded Dec 8, 2021Thank you for bringing "light" to Room 203. Having a functional smart board has allowed me to create different opportunities for my students to learn and play through e-books, virtual field trips, and music and movement breaks.
With computer applications like SORA and Epic I have been able to access books that I do not have in my classroom. During our building study I was able to read different versions of The Three Little Pig. Part of our weather unit included a study of wind. After reading, The Boy Who Harvested Wind, my students took a virtual field trip to a wind farm. The video allowed my students to see how wind turbines move and how they work. One of my students favorite parts of the day is music and movement. My students enjoy videos from Yo Re Mi, including A Slippery Fish, Sittin' On The Floor, and Making A Pizza.
Thank you again for your donation to bring "light"and joy to the students of Room 203.”
