A Clean & Healthy Classroom
Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you for your generous donation to our Clean & Healthy Classroom project. Everything from the baby wipes to lysol spray was much needed and will be used this school year. Cleaning supplies are essential in order to keep a classroom clean and safe. Having a supply of cleaning products makes my job so much easier because I do not have to worry about running out and can focus my attention on other aspects of teaching. Thank you for helping to keep our classroom clean and healthy this school year!”

Funded May 3, 2022Thank you for your extremely generous donation. Our small world center in our classroom library provides countless opportunities for students to practice skills such as language development and most importantly provide the space for imagination.
The materials in this project sparked stories about families and homes. The grass, trees and wood blocks were used to create outdoor settings. Students used the outdoor setting to retell the story of Little Owl's Night.
Thank you for supporting my students in the art of storytelling!”

Funded Aug 28, 2022Thank you for your extremely generous donation to our Tree Study project! This was my first project that included a variety of materials for one study. While there was lots of exploration and learning to be had outdoors, it was equally important to have materials available for small group and choice time that could extend student learning.
Out of all the materials purchased, my students really enjoyed building bird homes and using the animals to retell the story of Little Owl's Night.
Thank you again for supporting my students and classroom!”

Funded Mar 18, 2022Thank you for helping me to access the Teacher Pay Teacher (TPT) community. I have been able to use the TPT gift card to purchase resources to supplement my current curriculum. Several of the items I have purchased have included dice games, a shape activity bundle and seasonal templates for pattern blocks and geoboards. This gift card has helped me to minimize my out of pocket budget as a teacher. Thank you again for helping me support my students with additional learning materials through TPT.”

Funded Apr 6, 2022Thank you for helping me to kick off year two of PK with new alphabet resources.
Knowing that shapes and colors are a precursor to recognizing letters, I was able to have several activities prepared this school year using the resources you helped to fund. Even as I share this note in November, shapes and colors continue to be a learning target for several of my students. I have been able to change up how we use these materials since the beginning of the school year. For example, the magnets became part of a story retell as we read Websters Wonderful Web this past October. The color stickers transformed from a fine motor activity when exploring colors and shapes to a sort the shape activity a few weeks later.
The writing center materials have been a consistent staple during my small group lessons. My students have enjoyed the letter beads and letter robots this school year. The letter beads have been used as a fine motor activity to string beads, sorting by color and now more students are able to play with them and identify letters. Another student favorite, the letter robots have made appearances in our block and magna tile buildings.
Looking forward to seeing the progress my students make this school year. Thank you again for supporting my classroom!”

Funded Apr 4, 2022It was so special to have several Pete the Cat books as part of my classroom library at the beginning of the 22-23 school year. Both Rocking in My School Shoes and I love My White Shoes were the perfect read aloud books to get my students engaged and excited about read aloud time. The repetitive and rhythmic phrases helped me students to retell the story on our felt board. Pete continued to make appearances this school year in other read alouds such as Five Little Pumpkins and our nursery rhyme retell of the Itsy Bitsy Spider.
Thank you again for helping to introduce Pete the Cat into my classroom! Looking forward to more of our favorite characters joining our classroom this school year.”

Funded Aug 23, 2022As a teacher, it was special to see my students initial interactions with Potato Head. My students enjoyed changing the different body parts and had great conversations with their friends about what their potato head looked like. Over the past few months I have also seen development in my students fine motor skills as some initially struggled to put together their Potato Head. This October I was able to use the potato head toy as we learned about our five senses.
Thank you again for your donation to my classroom project. From the Potato Head toy, feelings books and play dough materials, everything has been used and enjoyed by my students as we learn and play together.”

Funded Apr 6, 2022My students are loving the new light panel. It has become a base layer to play and explore with light. As a teacher, what I love most about the light panel is that I can easily move it and create a provocation at any of the centers in my classroom.
Students have used the transparent blocks along with our class set of Picasso tiles on the light panel. I also added people from our block center for an added storytelling component.
I have not introduced the agate slices with my students. One of the slices had come broken. They were more fragile than a set a fellow teacher had purchased. Teacher lesson on my end, sometimes it's better to stick to a brand/product that a fellow teacher has used and recommended. Looking forward to introducing the agate slices with my students during the 2022-2023 school year.
Thank you for keeping the light shining bright in my classroom.”

Funded Apr 16, 2022Two chickens named Honeydew and Leo crossed the road into our classroom this spring. Both were named by my students. Fun Fact: Honeydew was named after our snack of the day.
As we waited for our eggs to hatch in the incubator, my students got some great math practice by counting down until our chicks arrived using the egg life cycle chart. They especially loved opening the life cycle eggs to see how the chicken was developing.
There are so many great memories from this study. One of my favorite memories is when my students witnessed the baby chicks hatching. We welcomed five baby chicks: Bow, Queen Elsa, Coco, Lil Nugget and Sonic.
While the chickens were the highlight of the study, the books were also valuable in setting the foundation for our study. Wearing my chicken blanket from Target, we enjoyed reading all of the new books during read aloud. One of the books that we referenced throughout the study was Sonya's Chicken. We made connections to the book on how to take care of our own chickens in our class. Students also referenced the book during a STEM activity, where they had to build their own chicken coops using blocks and the new chicken figurines.
Another book my students loved was Blue Chicken. Students drew their own blue chicken and enjoyed a blue chicken peep as a special treat.
With the resources you helped to fund, along with the hatching program, I felt supported as a teacher in creating this natural environment where my students were able to observe, wonder and learn. Everyday there was a new observation and question from my students that sparked joy and excitement in learning.
I greatly appreciate your donation to this project and creating this magical experience for my students. As I write this, RentACoop is no longer continuing their rental hatching program. I am looking forward to exploring other opportunities next spring for my students to continue to have hands on learning during our living things study.”

Funded Apr 20, 2022If you asked my students what their favorite part of the butterfly study was, it would be a tie between the colorful gems they got to use to decorate their butterfly magnets and watching the painted ladies fly.
Incorporating art and different materials for students to explore is so important for developing creativity and expression. I am so thankful that we were able to include the art supplies in this project grant. In the future, I look forward to planning more lessons that include more opportunities for art.
Patience. Out of all the vocabulary that we learned about caterpillars and butterflies, patience was one of the words that my students connected with the most during the study. After reading The Very Impatient Caterpillar, my students became interested in the word patience. We talked about how our caterpillars were patiently waiting in their chrysalis. I also tied in the word patience as part of behavior management (ex. reminding students to be patient as they wait their turn).
As my students patiently waited for the caterpillars to become butterflies, we enjoyed reading all of the great books you helped to fund. New books towards the end of the year really help to continue to build interest in reading.
I do want to be honest and let you know that I may have misread how many caterpillars I ordered... too many for just one classroom to enjoy. I shared some of our caterpillars with another PK class at my school. Your donation helped to provide the butterfly experience for two classrooms at my school - THANK YOU.
Thank you again for brining the magic of butterflies to my students. Looking forward to doing it again next school year.”

Ms. Nadia
