We will introduce the practice of growing plants in water starting with our youngest PreK students and each year students will learn a new, more complex techniques for hydroponic growing. This will support learning we are already doing with the Tower Garden hydroponic system which helps us provide salad to our school community. However, the Tower Garden requires adults to handle the bulk of its assembly and maintenance. These smaller hydroponic systems will be more accessible to younger students and will reside right in their classrooms so that they can observe their function, experience care, and watch plants grow on a daily basis. We will learning about food insecurity in our community and around the world and how simple it can be to grow food in any setting using these hydroponic systems.
