Feeding Hungry Minds and Tummies
Funded Nov 28, 2023We greatly appreciation the donation that you have made to our school. The food items that were donated has brought joy and happiness to many of our students that need a snack or small food item before they go home or to a sporting event. Our students come from a low-income background and so these items truly help them excel academically, behaviorally and mentally. We have utilized these items to feed our more needed students. Thank you once again for donating to the overall well-being of our students.”

Funded Oct 27, 2023I have been utilizing the treats donated as an incentive/prize when it comes to attracting students to our table when we have done tabling events where our focus is to educate students on the impact of drugs on students' mental health and school success. We have also utilized the treats as a thank you for participating in students' expressing their thoughts and ideas on how we can change our school culture so students are not impacted by drugs. Your donation has also helped our students work in groups when it comes to group lunch activities that we have hosted around drug awareness. We have done educational presentations along side our drug and alcohol specialist to all of our students as well.
We have also used the snacks during our lunch time activities where we have done trivia questions to students to see how much of the information we are pushing out to them is sticking when it comes to the negative impact drugs have on our students, school culture and community.
Our students were excited and eager to participate when they saw the treats. Our next steps for our students is to continue educating and encouraging them to bring in their parents to another presentation we would like to host during parent teacher conference week and then we will present to them in late Spring as well. Providing these snacks really keeps our students engaged and participating when a yummy treat is available. So thank you so much for your donation to our students and impacting our school in a positive way!”

Funded Sep 20, 2022Thank you for the items that you donated! My students are very grateful for being able to grab a food item when things are tough at home or even on their way to a sports practice. My students are surprised when they hear that the items are donated to us but are so thankful to know that they will have something in their tummy to be able to make it through their day or sporting event/practice.
My students were excited to see the selection and even were at times just wanting something to have to drink while they attended practice. Some of my students were happy to be able to have something in their tummy since some households are short on food. So thank you for providing these items to give our students the energy and focus they need to push through their day successfully in the classroom and on the court.
The next steps is to continue providing food items for our students that come from struggling households, are in the foster system, or are homeless. As a result, this will keep our students in school with the energy they need to stay focused.”

Funded Sep 20, 2022We have used the items you donated to our school in our small groups we providing counseling services through. In out small groups, students have been able to really reflect their past trauma through paint and art. My students have been able to use the canvases as a form of healthy coping skill and use that to share with others what they have gone through but also reach a point where they see the positives in life and how that life experience has shaped who they are now in all aspects of their lives.
My students were super excited and thankful to find out that these items were donated. They were surprised they could use and keep their creation. Thankful and grateful are the words they expressed. They have learned healthy coping skills through painting.
Many of my students now use art as a form of expression, communication, and self growth. Next steps, students will be using the canvas to create what they see as their future goal and where they see themselves 10 years from now. Thank you once again!”

Funded Sep 9, 2022I run small group counseling for our students to learn new healthy coping skills that they can use in school and at home. The demographic of our student population consist of high poverty rates, parents with low or no education, and students that come from experiencing trauma. During my one-on-one counseling or my small group counseling, I used the fidgets to teach my students healthy coping skills to be able to work through their moments of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and self harm.
My students were extremely grateful and surprised that they could use and in some instances keep a fidget or two to use while they are in class or at home over the holidays. My students have greatly improved on being able to develop healthy coping skills so they can stay in class more and be able to work through their moments of mental health struggle and not result in self harm. Next steps are for those students to be mentors to peers or friend around them and continue to thrive behaviorally, mentally, and emotionally themselves.”
