I want to provide my students with a learning environment that is warm and welcoming. Our classroom has hard linoleum floors. My students benefit from alternative seating. Being able to move around the room improves academics and behavior, instead of sitting in chairs all day. Having a classroom rug will provide them an inviting and comfortable place to come together for class learning and community building. Pillows and other seating choices are very popular options for students.
1:1 classrooms promotes student engagement, expands access to information, and differentiates learning. We are a 1:1 classroom with each student having an iPad. My class uses headphones not just for their learning, but also to cancel noice and to take tests. We are in short supply and many students do not have headphones.
Being 8 and 9 years old, my students love to be creative and work with their hands. For many this is a chance to be successful, beyond reading and math. Being almost half way through the school year, we have used a lot of our supplies. 3rd graders LOVE markers!
