  • Elevate Executive Function Skill of Organization to Enhance Health Happiness

    Funded Nov 27, 2024

I just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU! Because of your generosity, my Crew now has their own personal staplers and hole punchers—small but incredibly helpful tools that will make a huge difference for them.

The timing of your gift couldn't have been better. It arrived right before the holidays, and for many of my students, who didn't receive any Christmas presents this year, this felt like a mini Christmas miracle. They were beyond excited to have something of their own, and it was so heartwarming to see their faces light up.

Before this, my students would spend way too much time digging through messy binders or waiting in line to use the classroom's single hole puncher instead of actually working on assignments. Now, they can stay organized every day without the added stress. It's a small shift that will make a big impact on their confidence, independence, and executive functioning skills—something that will benefit them far beyond high school.

So from the bottom of my heart (and on behalf of my awesome ninth graders), THANK YOU! Your generosity means more than you know, and we are so grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. ORTIZ-TELLO

  • Give Art to My Crew to Elevate their Mental Health

    Funded Oct 30, 2024

I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support. Thanks to your donations, my crew students have had the opportunity to engage in hands-on, creative projects that brought so much joy and excitement to our classroom.

One of the most memorable moments was when my students painted pumpkins for fall and later built gingerbread houses for the holidays. Their eyes lit up with excitement as they worked together, letting their creativity shine. These experiences were not just fun activities—they became cherished memories. After the holidays, I learned that many of my students did not receive Christmas presents, which made these moments even more meaningful. Because of your kindness, I was able to provide them with experiences they will remember for years to come.

As we move forward, we are excited to continue incorporating hands-on, creative, and engaging activities into our learning. These resources help create a classroom environment where my students feel valued and inspired. Thank you for being a part of our journey and for making a difference in their lives. Your generosity has had an impact far beyond the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. ORTIZ-TELLO

  • Help My Students in Advisory Get Organized and Motivated!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank you for helping to provide supplies for my students to help them stay organized in school. I noticed that not everybody had a pencil case and basic tools like highlighters, colored pencils and regular pencils. That's why I wanted to do this for them. I teach some of my advisees in the regular math class and I still see them using the highlighters to annotate word problems and their whole puncher to make holes on their worksheets and keep their work organized in their binders. When my advisees saw the materials they were surprised. I had planned to give it to them before the winter break but I got sick with COVID and didn't see them until January. So the gifts were given at a random time. They were pleasantly surprised and right away started to customize their folders and pencil cases with the metallic sharpies that were part of the new materials.

One time during advisory we focused on time management and the students had to color the boxes in the schedule based on the activity they did at that time. For example if between 3-4pm they focused on homework then they would choose the color that the activity dictated is for homework. I was happy to see that although they are in high school and rarely use color pencils in their academic classes, they still had their color pencils and they were able to complete the activity and have a nice discussion about how they choose to spend their time. Next I want to do this for them before school starts this upcoming school year. I would add other materials like planners, binders, and folders for every class so they can start the school year organized. Thank you for the kind donations. It really meant a lot to me and to my advisees.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. ORTIZ-TELLO

We could all use a little reminder on how to better organize our lives to succeed. My students in my advisory could use some tools like a personal hole puncher, a pencil case, folder, and high lighters to bring some order to otherwise messy backpacks. The goal is to help my students in advisory not get so stressed out by the lack of organization in their lives. I also added Birthday pencils and color pencils to remind students that sometimes in advisory we want to wind down and de-stress and to celebrate each other.
