In kindergarten you would think that all students come just as prepared as anyone one else, but that is not true. It is not true now more so than ever due to COVID. Because of COVID my class is starting their schooling lives at a disadvantage. Many students were unable to get the early intervention services needed because of the shut down and this delay has made it more important than ever for me as their first teacher to give them the small group attention they need to succeed educationally. All materials being requested are for small group learning. The wobble stools will be at the teacher table to support motivations and focus. The magna-tiles are for 3D shapes practice. The magic board is to write letters, words, and numbers together. The time keeper is to give each group the time they need and a visual to class about the time for each group. The shelves and hooks are for materials organization for each small groups and their needs. The word family wheels will be a fun way to practice reading and rhyming basic cvc words. Standards address with these materials are: RL.K.10 - Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding. (small group, reading) RI.K.1 - With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text. (small group, reading) RF.K.3 - Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. (small group, reading) W.K.3 - Writing a narrative - a single event or several events in order. (small group, writing) K.CC.A.3 - Know number names and the count sequence. 3. Write numbers 0-20. (small group, math) K.G.B.5 - Analyze, compare, create, and compose shapes. (small group, math)
