My very early learners seek sensory input each and every moment of their day. I would love for them to have the opportunity to communicate their wants and needs in healthy ways. Learning to ask for the things we want is one of the first things we do, and what my students want and need are items that meet their sensory needs. Not only will these items give my students the opportunity to ask for sensory tools, toys, and activities, but they provide the building blocks for my students to learn to self-regulate their emotions. With very limited physical education classes and playground time, we need to provide students with as many opportunities for movement as possible to meet their sensory needs in healthy ways. A ball-pit, parachute, ball popper, and sensory toys will provide my students with the sensory input they are seeking, but also the opportunity to independently communicate their needs. My students deserve access to the tools they need to participate in their school day. Happy students make great learners!
