Manic for Math!
Funded Oct 20, 2015We have loved having all these new manipulatives to work use with our units of study. Every time we get a project funded my students jump right into use the materials bought. This time we were able to receive flash cards so that students could pair off and help each other practice their multiplication fluency. Working and learning from fellow students improves scores as well as classroom environment. Another item that they really enjoy using are the wipe and write boards. When learning about fractions the students always seem to struggle when working with fractions on a number line. With the write and wipe boards students were able to practice over and over without the frustration of drawing out the number lines every time they wanted to compare fractions. These also really helped my students that were struggling with this concept. They love working with these and I no longer hear complaints when we have to work on fractions.”

Moving On Up With Math!
Funded Apr 30, 2013Thank you for making your donations to my classroom. This is my first year in 3rd grade and I was in need of many math supplies and manipulatives that I didn't have (since I taught Kindergarten for the last 4 years). Your donations have made teaching math rewarding and fun!
My students really enjoy having their own packs of place value tiles, fraction tiles, base ten blocks, etc. to use when they need that extra support to solve math equations and problems. I have some student who NEED to use these materials everyday, but I love it when I have students who don't really need to use the hands on materials, but ask me everyday, "Mrs. Clark, can we use our packs to show our work?"
I also want to tell you that you have made a big impact on my small group work time. I love that I have the resources to work with individual students and groups of 3-4 and help reteach concepts that they are struggling with. Before I would have to search, beg, and borrow for materials, just to ensure I had some materials for the kids to use, but now every student in small group can work out their math, each with their own set of manipulatives. This allows me to plan a more effective lesson and my time is not spent searching for missing items for them to use.
Thank you again, for donating to my class. We appreciate it and we want you to know that your gestures (regardless of how big or small) are being used everyday and molding the minds of my little mathematicians!”

Mrs. Clark

Funded Apr 16, 2013This is just a small token of my gratitude for your donations. The listening center you donated and the wireless headphone set is a major hit with my students. They love going to that center now and often are asking me if they can read and listen to books during their free time. From a teacher's perspective the students are now able to enjoy different levels/genres of books that they normally couldn't read on their own and understand. They now can listen to the story and many follow along with the words as well as the illustrations. Even more lower leveled readers are able to retell the stories to me with sequence and details. Thank you for all that you have given my class.”

Funded Dec 8, 2012It was such a difference teaching writing and reading this year, because I had brand new mentor text to share with my class. We used many of the new books to explore how authors write their stories and took so many ideas from them that my students were adding those same features in their writing. In reading, my students love "shopping for new books" to put in their Reader's Workshop Bags. They use them everyday to practice their reading strategies and to become fluent readers. It is such a nice change to have brand new books that the students are excited about reading and I cannot express the gratitude our class has for your contributions. Books are one resource that we need the most and you have made that possible.”

Extra, Extra, Read & Write All About It!!
Funded Jun 28, 2012My students have been so thrilled to use all the wonderful leveled books that your donations have allowed me to purchase. Everyday my students sit at the carpet and learn how we can become better readers. Then they get to practice the skills taught by reading independently and with a partner. They love filling their "bags of books" up with the appropriate leveled text and sharing those books with friends. If it wasn't for the donations that I received, I would not have so many wonderful books for them to choose from. Reader's Workshop is about having the choice of what to read AND choosing books that are "just right!" Thank you for giving them this opportunity.”

Let's Get "Physical" with Science
Funded Dec 1, 2011Thank you for the wonderful Science materials! Science is the subject that receives the least amount of attention in school academics. It is my goal to make what time we do have fun and exciting while still teaching the objectives. Without generous donations none of this would be possible. My students have loved learning about insects, plants, magnetics, the five senses, and more using the hands on materials I was able to purchase. My students love the science materials so much that when they have a free center choice they always ask if they can play with the science tools and explore. Thank you again for thinking about my students and about supporting education.”

Mad About Math!
Funded Aug 17, 2011Boy, what a difference a few hands on math manipulatives can make! Since, I received the materials purchased through your generous donations, my students' math scores have skyrocketed. They really enjoy learning the math concepts as a whole group lesson, then getting to explore what they have learned and use that in their math center games. My students are working with shapes, patterns, graphing, measurement, weight, number sense, etc. and LOVING IT! They even go to the math centers when they have free choice time and work with the math manipulatives. Thank you so much for allowing me to give my class materials that I would not have been able to afford on my own. You will always be in my heart for your donations!”

Mrs. Clark
We Got The "Write" Stuff!!
Funded May 2, 2011My students have really enjoyed using the writing resources your generous donations have provided them. Everyday they read together stories and books, then with their writing journals they get to respond to their reading by writing about what they have read. This has allowed them to make the connections between writing and reading and to really become awesome young readers. The other writing materials are being used every day in our writing center rotations, and the students are often found being completely engaged in their work when they get to use the materials that were purchased through Donors Choose. Thank you again for opening up your wallets and your hearts to help with such a great cause. ”

Got Words? We Do! Just Need Some Helping Hands And Supplies
Funded Mar 9, 2011My students have been so excited these last few weeks. We have really been exploring all the different materials that you have donated to our classroom. It took a few weeks to really "dive" in there and work with these materials, but we finally got it!
I have seen excitement back in my students eyes when they get to go to the centers that your donated materials are in. In fact, sometimes I am even breaking up arguments on whose turn it is in those centers! Not only to I see excitement, I see that the students are gaining some meaningful learning from these materials. I can tell that the centers are perfect enrichment to their core-curriculum.
You have touched our hearts and our minds. Words can't express our thanks, but I hope that knowing you made a difference does.
A ton of "Froggy" hugs,
Mrs. C's Class”

Mrs. Clark
