My students need a classroom carpet and related agriculture materials for the agriculture classroom. The current tables and chairs in the classroom are large and do not fit the younger students K-2 at our school. The students feet don't touch the floor when sitting on the chairs, and therefore they cannot reach materials placed at the center of the table, sit safely, comfortably, and engage fully in the lessons. Regardless of age or size, all students deserve to feel like they "fit" in the classroom. A carpet will allow for all students at our school to sit safely, focus, engage, and learn with ease. The farm theme carpet will be placed on the floor, in the front of the classroom, near the board, and in the "Reading Garden" for students. It will be surrounded with books related to agriculture, science, and STEM for grades K-5. It will be the perfect place to captivate students interests with a whole-class story or lesson, small group learning, or even a comfortable place for students that may need to de-escalate. The hydroponics kit will open up a variety of ways to learn about plant science and agriculture. For example, students will use science and technology to learn how to increase production of food plants, without soil or large areas of space. The farmyard footprint kit will offer students many hands-on activities to help them discover what can be learned from animal footprints. For example, matching the footprint track stones to the animal or making rubbings or animal tracks outside in the schoolyard. Your generous donation to our project, will offer all the students in our school to learn agriculture science in a hands-on and meaningful way, as well as in a comfortable and safe environment.
