Before the pandemic, I offered Yoga and Mindfulness classes to students through a socio-emotional learning (SEL) professional development program at my school. As a teacher and coach, I saw the tremendous benefits of teaching yoga and mindfulness to my students and athletes - decreased stress, greater focus, fewer injuries, and a developed ability to connect with the present moment. Upon returning to "normal", I had planned to continue offering these courses, however, I was unfortunately run over by a car while riding my bicycle and suffered a severe leg injury. The yoga mats and other materials I used for the class were shared with another teacher, who moved to another school. I am looking to both replace these yoga props for our students, and continue practicing these valuable skills on our collective journeys to self-improvement.
