My special education students will provide each teacher/staff member in the building with a coffee request form on Monday. Teachers will return their form with their money (to be used to buy replacement supplies) to me by Thursday. My students will correctly complete and deliver each order on Friday morning. This allows my students to learn how to provide a service. This project will also allow the students a positive way to interact with all of the adults in our school. Many of the students in my classroom have autism. Learning social skills, such as making eye contact, speaking loud enough to be heard and saying please and thank you, are very important for the students to practice on a regular basis. Thank you for considering our Friday Coffee Cart Project. My students will benefit in many ways from this project, such as counting money, using appropriate social skills, and learning how to provide a service. This project will also help the adults that do not work in special education a chance to interact with our students and see them as any other student, instead of a student with disabilities.
