The journals, marker boards, and markers will be used at school and at home. These items are needed to help better prepare my Head Start VPK students with the foundational skills needed to be prepared for kindergarten and help close the achievement gap. The materials such as sensory slime will build up fine motor skills and will be used for language, literacy, and writing games such as name and letter recognition, which can incorporate numbers as well. These materials and activities will not only help social skills with peers but develop cognitive and fine motor skills. These items can be sent home in their traveling backpacks to be used at home for parents to spend time together but learn together as well.
