I have learned a great deal about the Leader in Me model for the classroom. Students that feel like they have a direct part in the class have a greater rate of success in their education. I have created jobs in my classroom so that every week every student has a job that gives back to the class. These range from being a teacher in training, morning greeter, technology technician, and classroom caretakers. Students are rewarded for their help and earn classroom cash. They also earn the classroom cash for being present at school, following expectations, going above and beyond with giving back to others, as well as hard work on their assignments. On Fridays, students are able to use their classroom cash to purchase things at our class store. Students will be able to choose from incentives like; playdoh, pop-its, stickers, a variety of keychains, rubber ducks, mechanical pencils, stress balls, and bracelets. The story is then run by our classroom banker. This student works on real-life skills of receiving money and giving change. This is something students really look forward to and get joy out of.
