Eduardo Galeano once said that "each day has a story to - deserves to be told, because we are made of stories. I mean, scientists say that human beings are made of atoms, but a little bird told me that we are also made of stories" and I could not agree more. This is the first time a Spanish Native Speaker class is offered at my High School and this brings in many challenges such as creating a new curriculum and most importantly, finding readings that are relevant to my students cultural background stories. "Yo no soy tu perfecta hija mexicana"/"I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter" is a book that I believe will make an impact in my students' lives.
