Exploring the Literary World One Book at a Time!
Funded Sep 10, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations that funded my students' library in my classroom. It has been such a joy to see their faces light up as they see all the knew reading material.
With these new texts, students gain the kills to think critically and explore circumstances outside of school that effect them on personal levels. These novels allow kids the opportunity to read about characters like themselves and see themselves represented in literature in ways they may never have before. With this representation, students will develop confidence in themselves as people of all genders, races, ethnicities, sexual orientation and creed. Further, students will also be able to encounter a wide range of differences in the world around them. This will help them to learn about people and become more empathetic, caring and open to the diversity that creates this world. It is an opportunity for growth for all students.
In my classroom, reading is a calming pass time for all students. With the opportunity to read books of their choosing, exploring narratives and stories that they want to read, students are able to relax into worlds of their own. They are able to clear their mind and relax into a story of adventure, hope, loss, love or fantasy. It is a great way for students to decompress after working so hard in class.
Once again, I thank you most sincerely for funding my students' library. You have given them so many worlds to explore.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Stein
