My goal is to have my third graders master their reading RL3.10 standards, comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poetry, by the end of the year. Due to the pandemic, my third graders have met many obstacles, both academically and socially and need all the resources available to them to help reach and close their reading skills gaps. In my classroom, my goal is for ALL my students to work in small guided reading groups to improve their reading fluency and comprehension skills. The Scholastic books will allow them to choose books that interest them and read independently at their own grade level. The whiteboards will aid with students showing their individual thinking skills, making self to text, self to world and text to text connections during small guided reading groups. The portable white board, chart papers and markers will help me pull small groups to reteach by creating anchor charts for the guided reading lessons for students to refer back to as need through out the year. The pop its are social emotional motivation tools for students to participate and engage in peer discourse during small group learning. The pandemic has create such academic and social emotional gaps for my students. Each student came to me with different academic skills and needs. As their teacher, it's my responsibility to try to close their academic and social emotional gaps as much as I can to get them ready for the next grade level.
