  • To 3D or Not To 3D!

    Funded Jan 9, 2024

My students and I thank you so much for your generous donations Nevada's six academic standards in the visual arts call for specific educational objectives in middle school and secondary school. Nevada's standards relate to the knowledge and application of different art techniques and processes which promote understanding of the visual arts in relationship to science, history, and culture.

My students were so excited to open the boxes and see all the 3D materials that arrived. They are anxiously researching cool and exciting art creations that relate to history and culture. Having the equipment and materials to learn the skills for creating 3-Dimensional art creations provides them with foundational connections scientifically, historically, and culturally centered artwork.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Knight

  • A-Mazeing Mazes

    Funded Dec 26, 2021

Thank you so much for funding our project!

The room was buzzing when the materials first came in. The students were very excited when we received them, and they were thrilled to start using the materials immediately. The colors and papers have already been put to good use. and there are many plans to use the air-drying clay.

We began by using the resources to finalize the work the students had done. They were very excited about being able to add finishing touches to the mazes they had worked so hard on. It was wonderful seeing them concentrated and engaged on perfecting their projects. We have also begun creating a greater variety of art like sculptures, and some students are even working towards creating mixed media pieces.

Thank you again for funding something that has helped promote creativity and create joy in the hearts of the kids.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Knight

These resources will be used in a maze creation fundraiser. Students will create a maze using various elements of line and design. Their works will be professionally photographed and bound into a book which will then be sold as a fundraiser for our school. This project will help promote Nevada Academic Content Standards Cr2.HS.3I (i.e., collaboratively develop a proposal for an installation, artwork, or space design that transforms the perception and experience of a particular place or idea) and Pr6.HS.1I (i.e., analyze and describe the impact that an exhibition or collection has on personal awareness of social, cultural, or political beliefs and understandings). COVID removed many avenues of fruitful self-expression from students. It also negatively impacted students' ability to positively engage with others. Students will use the requested markers and paper to create mazes based on one of our school's eight pillars of character (honesty, respect, responsibility, courage, citizenship, cooperation, and perseverance). Basing their maze on one of these pillars will allow students to explore their own character and philosophy.
