The books you donate will enhance the classroom I strive to create.
This is my first year at Miller Junior High in Aberdeen, Washington. This is my 16th year as a teacher. I walked into a classroom without a library. I immediately got to work, attending our local library sales on the weekends. The money I spent on my current collection was my personal money.
I am asking for help to continue to build my classroom library. Every student in school deserves the right to a book, a supportive classroom, and a motivating and passionate teacher.
All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences.
