BE THE CHANGE: Teach Social-Emotional Wellness Through Mindfulness and Yoga

Thank you so much for making this project possible for my fantastic students! The pandemic has affected everyone, it has definitely impacted education and the social emotional well-being of our students. I felt it was necessary that our students learned ways to manage their stress and anxiety. I recently started my "Breathe for Change" Yoga/SEL (Social Emotional Learning) training and I am excited to say that I have started using the techniques during my counseling sessions and in the classroom with my colleagues and students. In my experience, these techniques are very helpful with students during stressful situations.

The breathing exercises and relaxation techniques that I implemented has been very helpful in managing students stress, anxiety and de-escalation of various situations. Teaching students the breathing techniques and pose's have allowed them to connect with themselves and others. By supporting the students, they are able to focus, remain present, calm and relaxed. These tools will assist them in positive self practice to have a peaceful state of mind.

I am excited to continue my yoga training with "Breathe for Change" and implement the techniques to my scholars. Although, some have not had yoga experiences, they are open and willing to learn the techniques, pose's and stretches. They are excited to embrace unwind and release stress. We appreciate all that you have done to make this dream come true for my students, myself and the entire school community. Thank you for helping me to be the change!”
