Trying to get through the pandemic and having to modify the learning environments has been a struggle as a teacher. I have noticed there seems to be a struggle for my students too. Trying to get the students engaged since the return to in person has been a difficult road. Our classroom was not equipped for the transition from hands-on to digital. Use of programs like canvas had to be learned quickly by both the teachers and the students. Since the quarantine, teaching has become more about learning from a digital aspect and provides new challenges for teachers and students. One major challenge is helping students make the best of the limited technology they have at their fingertips. I am currently teaching from my desk and have limited mobility to move around the classroom. My students do have use of Chromebooks but nothing touchscreen. Having a Surface pro will allow me to be a more effective teacher. This will allow me to move around the classroom while I continue to teach the lesson at the same time. Additionally, with the Surface Pencil, myself and the students could make notes directly on the lesson. The Surface Pro will fulfill a differentiated learning environment, while allowing students to be independent. The pen will allow me to be able to draw visuals on the lesson so students are able to see a further break down of instructions, as well as send immediate feedback.
