Growing a Classroom
Funded Jan 28, 2022Thank you so much for your donation!! My students were super excited to be able to grow plants in the classroom. My kindergarten students are anxiously waiting to see if anything grows in their containers. The first group of kindergarten students that did it, nothing really grew in the containers so I have tried to do a second round of growing with them again. The hard part for me is that I am split between two schools in the district so its not easy for the plants to get watered all the time.
My fifth grade students were able to use the seeds to grow lettuce and other plants in the terrariums that they made. They grew so fast and many of them were so excited to see the growth in their plants. At the end of the unit I let them take their plants home and they were so excited!”

Supplies to Make Our Work Shine
Funded Nov 20, 2021Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our Donor's Choose project Supplies to Make Our Work Shine.
When my students saw all of the materials that were donated to our classroom they were so excited. Especially my second grade class when they saw the big box of crayons that they get to use. They used them in creating their habitat project posters. I would have included a picture of how they came out but many of the groups had their names in big letters on the posters and it would have ruined the picture if I had blocked them out.
My fifth graders have really enjoyed using the colored pencils and currently, they have been using them for their space exhibit trifold boards. In regards to the glue sticks, all of my students in each grade have used them often in order to glue their work into their science notebooks. We go through glue sticks like crazy along with pencils.
Thank you so much for your donation!!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gerstel
