I am requesting a grow kit, four windmill generator kits, books about biomes, books about the environment and resources from Teachers Pay Teachers. With these materials my students will learn about what makes up soil, how to plant seeds, and how sunlight, water and soil nurture plant growth. Students will also be able to identify how soil erosion happens when soil does not have plants and nutrients to protect it. Students will learn how and why recycling benefits our environment. Environmental studies requires tangible and project based learning and these projects will grant them the opportunity to put planting into practice and observe the plant life cycle and how it affects soil and the environment. They will be able to observe and write informational paragraphs about what they notice about plant development. My students enjoy reading about sustainability, farming, soil and soil erosion, and with these materials they will be able to plant with their own hands! This will promote engagement and meaningful participation. Sustainable farming an essential part of environmental studies and sustainablitlity. The TPT card will allow for the purchase of ready made projects that are aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts which will provide my students the needed informational text and culminating projects. The windmills are a STEM projector my students to develop and practice ideas about alternative ways to develop clean energy sources for our environment. These projects will enrich students' environmental studies, writing and STEM practices.
