On the Front Burner
Funded Nov 10, 2024On behalf of my students, I wish to thank you for your generosity in providing the funds for new markers for the Drawing and Design classes at Sylvan Hills High. The use of high-quality markers has allowed my students the opportunity for a better selection of colors and better blending in their marker drawings.
The students in my Drawing and Design classes welcomed the new markers with alacrity.
They were delighted to have the opportunity to use the Prismacolor markers for the "On the Front Burner" project. They were anxiously looking forward to the project since it was personal. It was nice to see their excitement when the project began and they were able to access the new materials.
My students will greatly benefit from having higher-quality art markers readily available. The color and blending in their drawings should also improve from the use of the new markers. The Prismacolor markers will also be utilized for projects in the future and possibly for other classes.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Green
It's All in the Details
Funded Mar 18, 2023My students and I are very grateful for your generosity and assistance in providing new markers for the Drawing and Design classes at SHHS. Having access to good-quality, fine-liner pens has allowed my students a much better selection of colors and good markers for finer details in their marker drawings.
My Drawing and Design students displayed enthusiasm at the opportunity to use the new fine-liner markers for the "It's All in the Details" project. One student was especially happy to be able to peel off the shrink wrap around the tin for the markers and took a moment to look over the wide variety of colors in the set. Though the project was a challenging one, it was good to see their willingness to jump in and complete the assignment using the new pens.
The new materials will definitely be used for future projects. The students will benefit from having ready access to a wide variety of colors to go along with the thicker, art markers they typically use. The detail in their drawings should also benefit from the fine-liner pens.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Green
Creating Culture with Colored Pencils
Funded Oct 26, 2022My students and I would like to thank you so much for your generosity and help in providing new materials for the Drawing and Design classes. Having access to Prismacolor colored pencils has granted them a much better selection of colors and better-quality pencils.
My Drawing students were excited to be given the opportunity to use professional colored pencils for the "Creating Culture with Colored Pencils" project. They are so used to using lower quality, leftover ones from the previous year (or years). When they saw the brand-new tins, they were anxious to get started on the aforementioned, challenging project. It was good to see them researching the cultures that interest them and deciding what would go into their drawings. It was also nice to see them using the new pencils without hesitation.
The next step is to let all of my students use the new materials for future projects. They will definitely benefit from having ready access to a wide variety of colors. Their work should also benefit from the quality of the pencils they are using (e.g., better blending ability and softer lead for smoother coloring).”
With gratitude,
Mr. Green

Funded Jan 26, 2022We greatly appreciate your support for the "Marking Their Mark" project. The markers that were purchased for the aforesaid project were put to good use on the assignment and will continue to be used for further projects requiring high-quality markers.
The students waited with alacrity to see the brand-new markers when I first mentioned their purchase. They have grown accustomed to using student-grade markers that streak, do not blend well, and are limited in color choice. One student was so excited that she was reluctant in opening them. However, once the project began, the students did not hesitate to use the new markers.
The "Making Their Mark" project gave the students the opportunity to have access to multiple skin tones and various shades of those colors to help the students achieve a higher level of verisimilitude in their work. It was wonderful to see the students' joy in being able to draw themselves and a background of their choice with better materials. I was pleased with the results and plan on continuing this project in the future.
Obviously, the use of such good markers was never going to end with just one project. My Drawing and Design II students have continued using the markers on their latest project based on Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe painting. They are required to draw a contrast portrait of a famous person four times and select a color scheme for each portrait. The students now have a wide choice of colors to use, providing the opportunity for more success on the assignment.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Green
