Students will be given the opportunity to be supported in ways that will improve their ability to manage difficult situations, problem solve, and become outstanding students. Students who lack the skills to self-regulate, build friendships, and solve conflicts will now have a room to explore, decompress, learn, and grow in. Our school staff wants to support our students in a space specifically designed to be calming and relaxing. Our Mindfulness classroom will have a variety of options for kids to de-escalate, calm and self regulate themselves, and learn strategies to self regulate. They may listen to calming music, draw, hear a story, engage in sensory activities, and practice mindfulness. Learning these types of strategies will allow kids the tools needed to work through difficult situations. Being able to do calming activities while being supported and taught how to use the materials will ensure that kids have the necessary skills to self regulate, learn appropriate ways to manage difficult situations, and grow as a student. Our overall goal is to teach students the skills they need to be successful in school and in life.
