Thank you so very much for donating to our classroom! The beginning of every school year is so exciting. Knowing I have the resources I need to help make my classroom a fun, engaging, and inclusive place to learn means the world to me. You are very appreciated. I can’t wait to show you all the fun things we do this year!”

  • To See the World Through a Microscopic View

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so very much for your generous donation. Our students are so excited about our science materials. They absolutely love our new microscopes. I plan on bringing them on an upcoming field trip for all of our 3 first-grade classes to use. We recently brought them to our school garden where we were able to observe different garden plants through our microscopes. It was incredibly exciting for our students to be able to see everyday objects from a different perspective. I know that these microscopes will be used for a very long time to come at La Mesa Dale and will help enrich the lives of countless students.

As always, I am so grateful to the donors choose community and our generous donors who help me provide opportunities for my students. You are appreciated every day.”

  • Making the Connection Between Stem and Art!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. This project has allowed us to do a lot more art in our classroom and plan for projects to come. Our students made snowglobes, ornaments, and winter paintings with these supplies. We also have been using the stem materials during our "fun Fridays" where students have access to STEM bins to play with! We also used tongue depressors for a STEM challenge to build bridges!

The headphones have been a tremendous help in our classroom. Our students use their iPads daily for iReady work. These headphones have allowed them to access this curriculum equitably. As students of this age go through headphones quickly, this has allowed us to avoid an interruption in their education.

We will continue using these supplies in our classroom! I am forever grateful for your support in our classroom!”

  • Filling Our Lives With Art

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you for your generous gift of the many wonderful art supplies for my classroom. I was able to use it in several projects over last year and will continue to use much of it this year!

With my 5th graders last year, your generous donation allowed me to incorporate art more often in my classroom. Some of their favorite projects including art I have included pictures of. One was the "Organelle Trail" poster project we did! This was where each student chose a different cell organelle and made an old-western-themed wanted poster for this organelle.

Another project they loved was a silhouette project with a background of tissue paper. We used tissue paper later to create ink stains with the tissue paper for an abstract painting method.

These art supplies will be well utilized this year in 1st grade! The donations have allowed me to supply all of my students with the supplies necessary for them to create on their own. This is so important to me. It allows all students to have access to art.

I am so grateful for your gift and can't wait to see the amazing things my students this year create with the supplies!”

  • The World Belongs to Those Who Read

    Funded Nov 22, 2021

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. Your kindness has helped transform my classroom. This year I left my virtual teaching position part way through the year to come to a school I absolutely love. This meant I had extremely limited time and resources to pull together things for my classroom. Of course, I did my best, but one thing was glaringly missing – a classroom library.

This project brought new life into our classroom. I have many students who don't seem as interested in reading. This was reflected in their reading scores when I arrived. Many didn't seem to find books at the library that reflected them or their interests. Many had just fallen out of love with reading.

It started slowly. I would give class time to read silently. A lot of students would peruse the bookshelf and stare blankly at the books. They might grab one and put it back after a few minutes, continuing that cycle seemingly endlessly. Then, it started to change. I had students keep returning for the same book. I noticed students putting their bookmarks in them. I started having students request books for a class novel.

Many of the students I didn't see reading at the beginning of the year are now reading consistently. During silent reading time, they are engaged and happy. They are finally rediscovering reading! It is also reflected in their reading comprehension grades.

I thank you again for your wonderful gift for our classroom. You have truly transformed the lives of my students. I am so grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bower

My classroom is filled with a large community of learners. These students absolutely love to read! My dream is to build a classroom library and reading space where they can gain exposure to a wide variety of literature. I want them to find books where they see themselves on the cover and in the pages. I want their cultures to be represented, and I want them to find themselves through reading. This project is to build my students a library where they can gain the knowledge and power to take on the world!
