The materials that I am requesting will help me teach my students about their emotions and educational needs. The wobble chairs, stools, and clipboards will allow my students to be flexible in their seating needs to choose something that will allow them to better focus on school. The options will help them explore choices, needs, and comfort. Not all students work the same way, so a set of elastic bands for the chairs will give me the ability to help students whose feet need more movement while still sitting down to listen to a lesson. With Covid last year, students were not given the opportunities in kindergarten for teamwork, group play, sharing, and more interpersonal skills. While following Covid guidelines and safety precautions, the Legos, magnetic tiles, and sticks will give students the opportunity to explore engineering while also working collaboratively to share materials and build greater structures. The playdoh will allow my students to be creative, let out frustration, work as a calm down tool, and can be used in reading and math as a tool to help with learning. I am also requesting books that will teach my students about their emotions and growth mindset that have concrete lessons and examples that they can hold onto. While these books are social-emotional based, they also promote asking and answering questions (RL1.1)
