  • Evidence-Based Courses for Speech Therapist

    Funded Jan 19, 2024

Thank you so much for helping me gain access to unlimited, evidence and research-based speech and language therapy trainings/ courses. This way, I will be able to support my students with various speech and language needs with up-to-date research therapy approaches! I have already started to browse through the courses and began a course with specific students in mind who exhibit "Apraxia of Speech". I am looking forward to further honing my skills as a speech and language pathologist to best support my students in their speech and language development, thus, helping them better access the curriculum as well as to enhance their overall quality of life as they communicate with others around them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lee

  • Speech and Language Therapy Resources

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

Thank you once again for your generous donations to supply my students on my caseload this school year and the coming school years! Because of these resources, my students were able to engage in fun and interactive therapy sessions! Having the mouth modal, the mirror, and the articulatory placement visuals have been a game changer! The Edupress resources provided my students the flexibility of pairing and practicing literacy skills with fun games, all whilst practicing their literacy and comprehension skills! All of the resources have been a wonderful addition and support to our therapy sessions! Thank you so much!”

  • Supporting Non-Verbal and Echolalic Students

    Funded Feb 16, 2023

Thank you very much for your kind support at helping me help my students with their communicative efforts, specifically students who are minimally verbal, non-verbal, and/ or present with echolalic speech. From the resources I have gained access to through this project, I have considered students with varied learning styles whose approach to developing language may be that of a gestalt language processor. I have structured therapy instruction to target learning language in phrases that are familiar to students, instead of the traditional approach of learning words/ phrases in increasing complexity. I look forward to continue reshaping/ restructuring therapy sessions to be more effective for my students according to their unique learning needs. Thank you again for your very kind support!”

  • Equipping Special Needs Students With Strategies for Rigorous Classroom Tasks

    Funded Feb 28, 2023

Thank you very much for helping me help the older students whom I work with who have special needs as we target their speech and language goals in therapy sessions, providing them the support they need to take on rigorous classroom tasks! Some students struggle with spelling in 4th grade and above, which is a pivotal skill in classroom tasks for older students. My students are already benefiting and enjoying the progress they've seen from activities and instruction that I have learned and implemented from the resources provided from this project to help students with their spelling skills. I have also implemented strategies to help students with the use of explicit instruction and writing strategies as we use articles from the classrooms and articles from NewsELA that interest students. Students have engaged in discussions of text features (e.g. titles, captions, subtitles, etc.) and practiced writing summaries, identifying main ideas of sections of articles, produced inferences, identified word meanings based on context clues, and more, all of which are strategies that facilitate increasing their comprehension skills of articles/ passages read to help them best respond to questions related to the articles. Thank you SO MUCH for your kind support towards my students' learning.”

  • Enhancing Speech and Language Therapy Experiences!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for your generous giving for my students with speech and language needs. The resources we received from this project have been instrumental to supporting students' learning. Access to the iPad has enabled to support students using digital storybooks and interactive learning platforms that include activities catered specifically to speech and language therapy materials (e.g. Boom Cards, Little Bee Speech, Get Epic, etc.).

My students with speech needs (specifically students who have phonological processes goals) have been very excited to work on their speech sounds using the mini objects (that includes minimal pairs, and evidenced based therapy approach) which I've paired with a lunch box (which we modified to use as a mystery box). I've also used these materials to target other speech goals (e.g. sentence expansion, prepositions, etc.). My students have benefited from the variety of digital materials from Teachers Pay Teachers and SPARK Sequencing cards to develop other speech and language skills. Thank you again, for your generous giving and your selfless support for the students!”

  • Supporting Little Champions Through Books & Research Based Narrative Programs

    Funded Jan 3, 2022

Thank you very much for your kind, wonderful, and absolutely amazing support for the little champions who receive speech and language therapy here at PS20 Anna Silver Elementary! Your generous contributions have given them access to fun stories and therapy materials for successful literacy-based intervention!

The little champions have been loving ALL of the books! With access to these books, therapy sessions have been able to target a plethora of speech and language goals that the students have! Students practiced and built story comprehension skills, inferencing skills, narrative skills (with visual cards to support identifying story grammar elements such as characters, settings, problem, solutions, feelings, and more), sequencing, problem solving, vocabulary building, comprehending figurative language, writing, practicing targeted speech sounds using words from the book, and more!

Once again, on behalf of my students, here's a shoutout of "THANKS!!" to you for your generosity and kind support as we journey together to build these little champions' language and literacy skills that will enable them to access the school curriculum!”
