Spending Matched Funds (Don't Donate, Please)
Funded Nov 23, 2022This was a project where spent left over funds from a previous project. To the donors who matched funds or donated on the project before, I appreciate your donations because they allowed me to pull this project off.
This project involved the purchase of resources that could be used by English language learners, now referred to as multi-language learners. The resources helped them quite a bit when it came to keeping up with their classmates in the story we were reading.
I appreciate the money from the previous projects that allowed me to do this one. Thank you.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Hayden
It's Reading Time
Funded Sep 17, 2022Thank you all so much for the donations. I used the funds to purchase books for my class to read in their free time as well as during assigned free reading times. The books are greatly appreciated by the students and me.
Many of my students enjoy reading, but often can't find books that interest them in their classes. In addition to misaligned interests, my students have a range of reading levels. Some read far above an 8th grade level while others are still reading around a 5th grade level. The range of texts has been a huge help with getting everyone involved with reading.
Thank you again for all of your donations!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Hayden

Funded Jan 6, 2022Thank you so much for your donations! The students have really enjoyed reading from physical texts. I think their eyes have especially enjoyed a break from the screens.
Technology is and will be important to their education, but there is something very special about being able to pick up a book. Many of our students who are reluctant to complete reading assignments did much better with a book they could hold in their hand (I think it also helped that a new tab can't be opened in a novel.). Several of our students commented on how much they enjoyed having physical texts. Everything from simply exclaiming "Books!" to "These are so much easier to read."
My students would not have had this opportunity without you, the donors. Thank you so much for your donations. Have a wonderful spring and summer!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Hayden
