  • Write, Illustrate, Bind!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

My students were so excited to see the materials for writing arrive. We have been writing all year, but each day there is a new excitement for the topic and they are improving more everyday. At this age, they use inventive spelling and it is very entertaining and rewarding to see how they think a word sounds. The longer the paper, the longer the story.

We published a book earlier this year with Student Treasures. These students are proud authors! We are also currently gathering students' work for our "End of the Year" book. We will be binding these in class with the help of each student. They will each have an individual job as well as assisting their group to prepare our pages.

Thank you SO VERY MUCH for investing in these memories that are touching the hearts of these students and their families.

May they ALWAYS remember their first grade year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fordham

  • Charts and Art

    Funded Nov 18, 2022

My students and I were so happy to see our items! We had a few packages delivered to our classroom and we unboxed it together. We were all SO VERY EXCITED! We started to assemble the chart stand in the afternoon while we were learning about math (multi-tasking) with organized chaos is so entertaining!

The children were asking what skill we would learn with the first anchor chart. We made an interactive chart for learning place value. Students used a sticky note to add their parts.

We have used this many times, along with the other resources.

We have painted with the art supplies. Six year old children LOVE to paint. We painted heart shapes cut from bubble wrap and stamped that onto t-shirts for our party!

Thank you so much for helping me make their first grade learning fun and memorable!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fordham

  • Hands-on Helps!

    Funded May 20, 2022

We are using every single thing you provided for our classroom! Here are a few examples: Each morning we use the carpets for our morning meeting. Students are excited to see which carpet they will get each time.

We use the cardstock each week for communication. Our "Fun Fridays" sometimes afford us time and weather for our parachute activities outside. Some students have never gotten to explore ways to play with a parachute. It's also a lot of fun if we get to use it in the gym on rainy days.

We are so very grateful for ALL the additions to our classroom and the kindness you've shown in making that happen for us.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fordham

  • Interact to Impact!

    Funded Dec 3, 2021

My students and I are extremely grateful to have the materials you provided in our classroom.

We can use our board for various activities that make learning more fun! The cart allows the computer to be placed near the board and therefore provides more interactions.

We use the screen to watch a quick video lesson while we can save our work on the board instead of erasing to provide a blank surface for the video.

Our printer and camera are proving to be helpful in learning as well.

Thank you, again so much for providing items for our classroom to make learning great!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fordham

Many students learn by DOING! If they can interact with the materials being taught, research shows they are more likely to learn it. This material will provide student to use gross and fine motor skills. When we are face to face, (we are 100% currently), students will move information around and use the pen to write or draw their responses within a document or lesson. In the event, we are required to switch to distance learning, students would be more interested in the content and therefore teaching would be more effective with students viewing the interactive board through video/Google Classroom.
