These materials are essential for projects that teach our students about manufacturing. Manufacturing is very big in Nevada and our students need the skills required for this work. We lost so much time in the pandemic that we could not address the State standards completely. In order to use our 3d printers and laser engravers we need to have the proper materials and enough of them that students can do more than one small project. Our standards focus on additive and subtractive manufacturing processes so we need to have a large amount of 3D filament and plastics/wood to run our machines. Students will use the 3D printer and laser to make small projects at first like a bottle opener or a name plate for a desk. As they progress they will design Mouse trap cars and compound pulley systems that will integrate parts from both machines into as assembly! We have amazing technology and we need the material to put it to use. Students will not understand the impact of 3d modeling and design until they can see it produce something tangible.
