These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by providing them with multicultural books. As of right now, my library has one book with people of color in it, and it is not developmentally appropriate. Many of the children I serve are Native American, and we need stories in our classroom to acknowledge and reflect on their heritage. Likewise, we need books with characters of color to support diverse and inclusivee children in our classroom setting. By having access to multicultural books, we can teach children to be proud of their heritage and inform them about other cultures they will not otherwise learn about. The stories I have chosen are developmentally appropriate, easy to understand, and effective at supporting racial diversity.
