It's no secret that technology integration is playing a huge role in modern-day education. My class uses their Chromebooks every single day. This allows me to create individualized and differentiated learning experiences for all of my students. However, we almost always run into the same hiccups on a daily basis. You see, my class is the only one in our whole entire school that does not have a charging cart for the students' Chromebooks. We also only have 10 free outlets in our room. This means that if I have the students who come in without their charged Chromebook, they need to find one of the free ones to use to charge it and spend that whole lesson sitting on the floor next to an outlet. This is not an ideal learning environment for these students and they become easily distracted or disengaged in the lesson. In addition to that, there are usually quite a few students who need to use an outlet so they are often having to sit right next to each other when charging their Chromebooks. This presents me with quite a dilemma since the students' chargers aren't long enough for all of them to be properly spread out, they are not meeting CDC guidelines of being between 3 and 6 feet apart from one another. If I could ensure that all of the students' Chromebooks were fully charged in the morning, then we wouldn't have this issue. I would also be able to disinfect each of the students' Chromebooks at the end of the school day and take further precautions to protect my students against the COVID-19 Virus. Having fully charged Chromebooks for my students would allow me to confidently plan more lessons and activities that integrate technology into my students' education.
