  • Classroom Community Supplies

    Funded Dec 7, 2023

Your donation to my classroom has made a huge impact! We have been able to use all of the materials you have so generally allowed us to buy through your donations.

We have been using the chairs to meet for intervention groups and small groups during the day. These chairs have been so useful and the students love to sit in them.

The paper has been incredibly helpful in our classroom. I use it to print out activities and my students are able to use the paper to help them complete their work.

The visual timer has been helpful so that students can see the timer to see how much time they have left to complete activities. They love the timer!

The charging area has been incredibly beneficial. Charging computers in our classroom took forever before because the cords were tangled and everywhere. Now that we have this in our classroom, charging has been so quick and easy on my students. This has saved a lot of time in our day so we can focus on more important things!

Overall, your donations have been incredibly useful in my classroom and my students and I greatly appreciate your donations!

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wertheimer

  • First Grade Leveled Library

    Funded Nov 17, 2021

Our new First Grade Leveled Library has made an enormous impact on my students. When we first started using the leveled library, students were so excited. They were thrilled to be able to take home books and have a place to keep the books safe and sound. Parents were thrilled to have resources available at home to support their children's learning.

The new resources have helped my students to soar in reading. Students are working on a variety of skills including comprehension, phonics and decoding words. We now have a time during the day where students can read their leveled books. Students love to get their book bag out and find a comfy spot in the room to read books at their level. The sense of accomplishment they feel when they have read a book is incredible.

Our leveled library was made possible by your generous donation. Thank you so much for supporting my first graders. They can work to achieve their reading goals because of you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wertheimer

First grade is a critical year for readers! We begin first grade at a level D (4), and by the end of first grade, we are expected to be reading at a level I (16). Having access to quality books at each reading level is vital for student success. Having a leveled library in the classroom is critical for students at all levels. In our classroom, students will book shop at their level and then practice reading the books to their peers or independently. They will have the opportunity to bring books home and read them to their families. In order to use the leveled library effectively, students would need book bags to take home the books so they can keep track of them. We also need bookcases to house the books so they can be used in an organized manner. Covid has put our learning behind, and some of us are below grade level. Having access to more books and books at specific levels will allow students to gain more experience reading books, which many missed out on previously. Precisely, this aligns to the NVAC standard: RF 1.4: Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. My goal for my students is to make one year's worth of growth in reading. The best way for them to become better readers is to have access to books that they can read, that support their growth as readers!
