  • Bringing Band to Elementary

    Funded Nov 4, 2023

We were able to successfully start our after school band program on January 2, 2024! Not only were we able to have a variety of woodwind instruments join our group (flutes, clarinets, oboes, and even an alto clarinet), but we were also able to extend the invitation to those students pursuing saxophones and a few brass instruments (trumpets and trombones).

Through your generous donations, we were able to supply basic materials to ensure a successful start to our club. The compact folding music stands and the Essential Elements books are used during every practice and the reeds you provided make playing our reeded instruments possible. The conducting baton and tuner/metronome are crucial tools for our group because they help produce a steady beat to help my young musicians play rhythms accurately and in tune.

I cannot thank you enough for giving my students the opportunity to play in a musical ensemble before entering middle school and for giving me the opportunity to finally start this after school band program.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Fischer

  • Exploring Scientific Concepts

    Funded Nov 21, 2021

This project has given me many tools to enrich my science lessons. Those tools (including flashlights, a grow light, soil, watering containers, biodegradable pots, and a variety of seeds) have made it possible for my students to experience very hands on activities with their science lessons. These activities will hopefully be what my students remember when they think about their experiences in first grade. They had so much fun and I am so thankful for all of the items that were donated to my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Fischer

Our class will be exploring plants and animals this spring. I decided to order materials to start a variety of plants in the classroom to transplant into the outside school garden. I asked for a variety of seeds, a growing light, mist sprayers, gardening books, and soil. Since my school does not receive FOSS kits, these materials will give my students an opportunity to have hands- on experiences with plants. This year we will also study the life cycle of animals. Incorporating an ant farm, a live butterfly kit, and a variety of life cycle books will help my students understand that young plants and animals are like, but not exactly like, their parents. Thank you so much for helping educators teach children.
