Many of the titles on this list will help teach the NVACS for Social Studies. In third grade, the focus is on global movement and the global experience. For example, I plan to use the book, Martin & Anne: The Kindred Spirits of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Anne Frank to help teach SS.3.17: Analyze the contributions and positive impacts of culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse people throughout the world. For the NVACS for English Language Arts, the class set of Third Grade Angels will help teach reading literature standards and National Geographic Readers: Animal Architects will help teach reading informational text standards.
