The project consists of students forming book clubs with various texts to allow small group collaboration, which will lead to a deeper understanding of their reading and of others’ perspectives through social interaction and conversations. Small group discussions will also address professional collaboration skills that are necessary when entering the workforce. The small groups will help establish a greater sense of community and unity where each student can participate and be heard. Students will communicate and work at school and at home to collaborate on book projects. The clubs provide a common connection between students that will go beyond classroom discussion. Students will gain better reading, listening, and communication skills as required by content standards.
