These funds would allow my students to use more materials than I currently have. This would enable them to demonstrate their learning in more creative and hands-on ways by providing them with materials such as scissors, markers, colored pencils, whiteboards, timers for activities, headphones when needed to use laptops during testing or instruction, etc.
Having new classroom supplies and organizational items will make the classroom environment more welcoming and accessible for all learning types. The district-supplied learning materials get us by, but these materials would help us thrive!
Additionally, in my current classroom environment, there is a leak above the room that prevents us from learning in the same room whenever there is weather, so a wagon to be able to move materials like student worksheets and supplies would be tremendously helpful. Additionally, having rolling organizational furnishings would allow me to transport supplies so that on those days students aren't stripped from their regular environment as well as materials like we have been lately. Document sleeves and bags would help protect materials as well.
Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) focus on positive reinforcements and restorative discipline, but also requires rewards. Student prizes are included in my cart to provide a material reward in addition to the instructional-related rewards.
My classroom currently has limited accessibility for student materials due to a lack of organizational furnishings. Additionally, with no windows and limited classroom lighting, light is not ideal or welcoming as it currently stands. Social emotional learning is more important now, than ever after students have experienced over a year of learning from home in an isolated environment, so most of these items are targeted to meet the needs socially and emotionally for all learning types.
