As the main focus in my classroom, kindergarten students are given many opportunities to work together, in order to build social skills and to learn from one another in a variety of ways. To promote active, hands-on learning, materials need to be both engaging and appropriate for self-monitoring exploration. The phonemic awareness puzzles (RF.K.2a), rhyming sorts (RF.K.2a), scissors, and other fine motor activities (RF.K.3, W.K.1) will contribute to building competency in literacy. The math games (K.CC.1, K.MDA.2), number sequence puzzles (K.CC.1), and number matchlocks (K.CC.3) will all contribute to mathematical learning. The magnetic tiles and Lego set (K.G.5, SS.K.1, and all SEL competencies) will provide opportunities for problem-solving and working with others, which has been largely missing due to COVID-19. All of the materials will develop fine motor skills, which students have also missed out on during COVID. With these extra resources, my students would be able to learn, grow and play together.
