We are creating a space for our children to self regulate. Our students are learning to operate in a school environment with norms that they have not experienced in the last two years. We want an inviting, safe space that allows our students to learn and engage in physical activities, calming activities, and reflect on their emotions.
We hope to teach them different ways to respond to strong emotions. In order for students to learn in the classroom they need to be regulated and calm. Trauma is unique to everyone. It is important to our staff and me to support our children at our school to the best of our ability and to truly make a difference. The items listed will help our students. The goal of this project is to be a trauma informed space that is essential to helping our students learn necessary strategies to regulate their strong feelings and emotions.
