Technology has become a critical part of all students' education. Students with communication challenges are even more dependent on this technology to access their education and further their language development. These iPads will be used in conjunction with applications that have proven to be successful with nonverbal students or students with challenges developing verbal communcation. These iPads will allow students access to various picture communication systems with voice output, allowing them to communicate and participate in all school environments. I've had first-hand experience seeing the success of augmentative communication books and devices. With the iPad and specialized Apps (LAMP Words for Life $300), I am able to program student-specific language. This technology allows students to share their thoughts, ask and answer questions, make their wants and needs known, and participate in academic and social conversations.
