Having something as simple as storage cubbies/mailboxes can change the whole mindset of my students. Rather than shoving their papers/projects/awards/jackets, etc. anywhere and everywhere, they will have a specific place for them. Most of my students have never been in school before and this adjustment is a big one. Helping them in their journey to find independence and take pride in what they do and have at school is important to me. If I can get my kindergarteners taking care of their stuff early on, maybe we will have less issues with vandalism in the later grades.
