  • Engaging Math Learning Centers for K-2 Diverse Learners

    Funded Dec 30, 2024

First and foremost, my students would like to express our utmost gratitude for your contributions to our classroom. The materials have helped my students advanced in math (place value, counting, forming numbers) through sensory play. When we received the materials, we were just finishing our addition and subtraction unit. We were able to use the number lines provided to help with number identification, number formation, and adding within 5,10, and 20. We used the answer boards to support using ten frames and counters in addition and subtraction. We also use the counters as part of our morning meeting when counting to 100. The ice cream cones and bolts and nuts have supported my students with one to one correspondence and counting to 10.

Most recently, we have been diving into place value (hundreds, tens, and ones). We have been using the touch and match cards along with place value manipulatives to learn the quantity of numbers. We use the activity trays to show the quantity of our numbers and will soon begin to use them to compare numbers.

Lastly, I would like to once again thank you all for your contribution and the opportunities for growth in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Batista

  • Math Manipulatives and Pretend Play Toys

    Funded Dec 20, 2022

Class V01 greatly appreciates your contributions to further our learning. We are delighted to have the opportunity of our project being fully funded. We came back from our Christmas break to new toys and exciting items for our pretend play. The pretend play food and utensils has been a great hit in our class. A lot of our students have trouble socializing with their peers and these toys have aided with this deficit. We have also been learning about kindness and sharing with our peers and these items have been very helpful as well. As far as the math manipulatives, we have been using the number blocks, dice, magnets, and etc, to build on number correspondence. Our learners are very visual and are working on different ways of correlating quantity to a number. We have been working hard at addition and subtraction. The addition of these items have entered our classroom right on time. We hope to continue to grow in our learning and be the best scholars that we can be. Pictures will follow soon.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Batista

  • A Classroom Library That Focuses on Inclusion and SEL Awareness

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you so much for your donations! We are currently focusing on "Me on the Map". We have been using the books donated to us to learn about diversity, inclusion, and the world around us. Books such as "Hair Love" have been great additions to our module in teaching our students about diversity. The foldable cushion have been a great way to provide flexible seating. The floor tiles have been a great addition to our safe place. It helps our students de-escalate while they are navigating through their emotions.”

    With gratitude,

  • Classroom Supplies for a First Year Teacher

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Class V01 is very grateful for your donations. We have been able to provide a warm and inviting classroom to our students. Through the use of our bins, we have been able to create differentiated workstations. These bins allow students to identify their colors and have ownership over their work. The magnetic signs have allowed me to address the standards being taught in the class. It allows me to provide clarity for me students so they can understand what the goals are. The clipboards we received have also allowed me to give students opportunities to complete their work”

  • iPads for Special Education Students

    Funded Jul 2, 2022

Your contributions have been a great assistant in my classroom. Many of students require a lot of assistance with their fine motor skills. Through the use of iPads, my students have been able to use applications that help them with their handwriting, sliding an item from one location to another. iPads in the classroom has been very helpful in assisting my students in learning by doing. The use of technology has allowed me to create interactive lessons that are engaging. My students are loving the use of technology and are definitely learning! It is a great experience watching them learn and grow into amazing little human beings!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Batista

  • iPads for Inner City Kids

    Funded Feb 8, 2022

Thanks to your incredible donations, student engagement has increased in my classroom. The document scanner has managed to keep my students engaged. I can mirror the work I want to see my students deliver. Many of them struggle with spelling and writing. The document scanner allows me to help them strengthen these skills.

The iPads have enabled my students to participate in interactive lessons. We use the iPads to engage in lessons on Nearpod, TedED, and Kahoot. They were very excited to receive these resources and learn through the use of technology.

On behalf of the students of The Mickey Mantle School, I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for your support. This is my first year as a teacher. Many of our students are behind due to the effects of the pandemic. Your donations will aide in helping our students readjust to a normal learning experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Batista

I will teach lessons that will be inclusive to my students as well as broaden their reading and comprehension skills. I would also like to use these books to help them advance in their independent reading. Students have lost these skills due to the pandemic and need more reinforcements. Many of my students are inner-city kids and don't have access to books. I would like to have books that will allow me to enhance my lessons and engage my students. I currently teach a fifth and sixth grade class with students on different reading levels.
