I like basing my class around the literature that we are reading, and while our My Perspectives curriculum does a fantastic job of helping me create that setting for our learning, I would love to acquire some more recent novels. I have a vision for my class to read Hunger Games and use the beginning of the second semester to review all our important terms - such as symbolism, dystopia, theme, and characterization - while reading a story that draws in the whole class. Using new, engaging, and relevant literature, I know our students will thrive.
