A large amount of my project is requesting postcards and stamps. I think a kind gesture, like sending a postcard home, can do wonders regarding family engagement. If I can build a bond between the parents, the student, and myself, then together we can achieve anything. Too often I feel as though there's a disconnect between me and my students. The fact that we were online for so long is a major contributing factor to this. Also, we still have masks on. This barrier both physical a figurative is causing a divide between students and other students as well as with students and me. This gesture will break down those barriers. Another portion of my project is teacher desk and material needs. Things like pens, paper, keyboard, mouse, and monitor. I need high-quality tech to effectively do my job. Whether I'm sending emails, grading assignments, creating assignments, or writing notes. All of these tasks require constant use of my technology. Just getting by on old equipment isn't beneficial for me or for my students. Its quite possible with better technology I could do what I do now quicker and have more time to improve myself. This improvement will then further the education of my students. The only item not mentioned but speaks for itself is the math flashcards. Students always need to stay sharp on their mental math skills. I imagine that with my students I could play some kind of game with these flash cards. Maybe split them up amongst groups and see who can finish first? Maybe they can challenge one another and see who can do it the quickest. There are a few ideas I have. I can't wait to get started on this project with help of your awesome funding.
