Students will be given time to engage in active memory, processing and incorporating new information, and visualization about test performance while imaging project development. Students will be in small groups and will be instructed on how to meditate for academics. Student data will be collected in the form of a pre and post test. A counselor will be leading the groups and following up with individual students. The unused room available for these lessons has no computer or desks so the cart will serve as place where the counselor can work on her laptop to access student data. The refrigerator will be used to maintain cold water and ice packs. Students will be allowed to lay on yoga mats that are socially distanced as they are guided through meditations for performance, relaxation, and anxiety reduction (thus meeting Nevada Academic Content Standards for Health: 1.ME.HS.1 and 2.AF.HS.1). Research has shown that relaxation an visualization contributes to increased confidence, reduced anxiety, and enhances academic performance as well as a reduction in discipline and mental health issues. These conditions have increased since the advent of the pandemic. This project will directly affect the mental and emotional well-being of the 9th grade students.
