The Living Kwanzaa Museum
Funded Oct 30, 2024Thanks to the generous support of our donors, the Living Kwanzaa Museum has provided students with an immersive, hands-on experience celebrating the principles of Kwanzaa and their connection to African and African-American culture. Through interactive exhibits, storytelling, and cultural artifacts, students engaged deeply with the Seven Principles (Nguzo Saba), fostering a greater understanding of unity, self-determination, and collective work.
Students participated in hands-on workshops, including traditional African drumming, Adinkra symbol painting, and storytelling sessions that highlighted African-American historical figures who embodied the principles of Kwanzaa. These activities strengthened their sense of identity, community, and leadership.
The museum not only educated but inspired students to apply these principles beyond the classroom. Many have expressed a newfound commitment to community service, self-determination, and entrepreneurship. Teachers have also noted an increase in cultural pride and critical thinking about historical and contemporary issues.
This initiative would not have been possible without our donors' support. Your contributions have created a lasting impact, ensuring that students not only learn about Kwanzaa but live its values year-round. Thank you for investing in our students and their journey of cultural empowerment.”
With gratitude,
Mr. M. Pope
