Reading Is Magnetic
Funded Dec 5, 2011The resources that you have provided for our classroom have made a huge impact on the learning that takes place. These resources allowed me to implement more tactile learning opportunities, which help to meet various learning styles. They also allowed for me to demonstrate concepts for have the students actively involved in the lesson. The easel allows for me to teach to the students while they sit on the floor and are all in close proximity, which help to keep them focused and motivated on our task.
The easel has been used daily since we received it. It gives us a place to hang the pocket charts so that we can do word building and sorting activities, which help to refine our understanding of phonics concepts. We also use the pocket chart for organizing math vocabulary, sorting coins, listing types of bugs for science, and many other activities.
The side of the easel with the writing lines has given the students a place to practice their handwriting skills. It has been wonderful to have the students be sitting in a small group near the easel and watching their peers write and model the objectives.
The learning palettes and letter stamps have been a wonderful resource for guided reading groups. They have been great, self-guided and self-corrected reading and spelling centers. They have been especially beneficial for the struggling students. They are highly motivated by using these types of manipulatives, which increase the amount of time they are exposed to a concept and work on it without getting too overwhelmed (it's more like a game).
All of these resources have become invaluable learning tools that we use every day! ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gillitzer
